Zsuzsanna Madai

The 25 year old flute player Zsuzsanna Madai studied at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest with Zoltán Gyöngyössy from 2003 to 2008. During this period she took part in two international flute competitions with great success (Paris 2005, Thessaloniki 2007). She was awarded the first prize at the Hartai Ferenc Flute Competition held at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music. She had the opportunity to learn from teachers like István Matuz, László Hadady, Auréle Nicolet and Anders Ljungar-Chapelon at different masterclasses.

Besides having a soloist's career, she has also performed various kinds of chamber music performances. She regularly works with the internationally known "Ad libitum" wind quintet.

As a young flutist she also plays contemporary music with great interest. She regularly took part in different contemporary performances with her "THReNSeMBle" sextett (founded 2007).

Since 2004 she has been a member of the Danubia Symphonic Orchestra of Óbuda (artistic director: Domonkos Héja) with which she had the opportunity to play with well-known soloists and conductors such as Péter Eötvös, Tamás Vásáry, Jose Cura, Kobayasi Ken-Ichiro, Alexis Soriano, Marco Comin vagy Nigel Kennedy.

From 2009 she is continuing her DLA-studies (Doctor of Liberty Arts) at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. She works regularly with the Budapest Festivalorchestra as a piccolo-player and she teaches in the Tóth Aladár School of music.
